Eight Reasons Why You Should Talk To Your Optometrist About Contacts

If you use prescription lenses and you've never looked into the possibility of getting contacts, you might want to discuss the possibility of getting contacts with your optometrist.

The following are eight reasons why you should talk to your optometrist about contact lenses

Wearing contacts can give you more confidence.

Some patients who wear prescription lenses are self-conscious about having glasses on. This might detract from their confidence and make them more timid in social situations. On the other hand, contact lenses can increase a patient's confidence and make them more outgoing.

You'll be less likely to lose contacts than eyeglasses.

It's easy to lose eyeglasses because they may frequently be taken off and set aside. On the other hand, contact lenses constantly stay in so that they are less likely to become lost.

You don't have to worry about contacts fogging up.

Eyeglasses can fog up in certain situations and reduce visibility. This is especially true when eyeglasses are being worn along with a mask. When a patient wears contact lenses, there is no risk of reduced visibility due to lenses fogging up.

It's easier to participate in certain sporting events with contacts.

Eyeglasses are likely to come out of place or even fall off when they are worn during certain athletic activities. Contact lenses can comfortably be worn for just about any athletic activity so that clear vision is ensured without the distraction of having to keep eyeglasses in place.

You'll have a better field of vision with contacts.

While eyeglasses can give a patient sharp vision when looking through the lenses, patients cannot see clearly when looking too far to either side. In contrast, contact lenses offer a more complete field of vision.

Contacts don't have to impact your appearance.

It's not readily apparent that an individual is wearing contacts. This makes it so that contacts don't really impact a person's appearance in the same way that eyeglasses impact appearance.

You don't have to worry about scratches developing on your lenses.

Eyeglass lenses can easily become scratched through everyday use. Scratched lenses detract from visibility. Fortunately, contact lenses cannot become scratched as easily, so they are more likely to continue to offer the same quality of vision over time.

You don't have to worry about your contact lenses breaking.

Eventually, eyeglasses usually become broken. The lenses can crack if eyeglasses are dropped on the ground. Also, it's easy to accidentally sit on or step on eyeglasses so that the frames become warped or broken. Contact lenses cannot become broken in the same way.
